Over the past few days, there has been some amount of talk about Xbox One exclusive Rare Replay potentially coming to Wii U. Now, Rare itself has chimed in with an official response.

Writing on Twitter today, the Microsoft-owned studio said it's heard your questions about Rare Replay for Wii U, but made clear the game is only available on Xbox One.

Talk about a Wii U version of Rare Replay started earlier this month. After Microsoft announced Minecraft for Wii U, some wondered if that could pave the way for more Microsoft-published games, like Rare Replay, on Nintendo's console. The official Microsoft Studios Twitter account even directed people to ask Rare about it.

Rare's official comments today come after a follow-up tweet from Microsoft Studios in which the company said it had "no information of any games coming to the Wii U other than Minecraft at this time."

Interestingly, both statements do not definitively rule out a release of Rare Replay for Wii U. But it's definitely too soon to get your hopes up.

Microsoft acquired the Minecraft franchise and developer Mojang in 2014 for the price of $2.5 billion. At the time, Microsoft stressed that it would not abandon versions of Minecraft for competing platforms, and the company has indeed followed through. The announcement of Minecraft for Wii U follows continued DLC support for the PlayStation versions of the game, in addition to Xbox and other platforms.

Minecraft for Wii U launches on December 17.
