Real Surgeons Play Surgeon Simulator and It Doesn't Go So Well

Three real-life surgeons have tried their hand at the Surgeon Simulator video game--and they left a lot to be desired. From the YouTube channel Facts. (via Kotaku) comes the video below in which the surgeons play the game to see if their real-world training carries over to the silly wacky independent game.

There are a number of standout sequences, like the one where a surgeon says, "I hope my boss doesn't see this video." One of the surgeons takes a hammer to his patient's ribcage. Another surgeon pokes a heart on the operating table with their finger--probably not a good idea.

It's important to note that Surgeon Simulator's controls are quite tricky--and that's intentional and part of the charm. So even a skilled surgeon might not be as proficient at the game as you'd expect. It also appears that the surgeons in this video are playing the game for the first time.

Surgeon Simulator was developed by Bossa Studios, an independent studio from London. The over-the-top game has sold more than 2 million copies.

GameSpot scored Surgeon Simulator an 8/10. Reviewer Shaun McInnis said: "Surgeon Simulator 2013 is hardly a simulation, but it makes medical malpractice an absolute delight."
