Red Dead Redemption co-op DLC, Bad Company 2 Onslaught fire up XBL
Xbox Live Update: Rockstar's Western gets first batch of add-on content, EA DICE's cooperative game mode available for Bad Company 2, Crackdown 2 gets a demo.
It's a busy week on Xbox Live, as Rockstar Games' open-world Red Dead: Redemption gets its first heap of downloadable content, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 receives a new mode, eager Pacific City fans can play Crackdown 2, and more arrive in Microsoft's storefront.
Red Dead Redemption's co-op mission pack Outlaws to the End is available today. The content is free and brings six new cooperative multiplayer missions to the game for up to four players. What's more, the add-on content packs in additional trophies and achievements for gamers to collect.
On the modern battlefield, EA DICE released Onslaught Mode this week for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. This 800 MS point ($10) addition includes cooperative missions, additional accreditations to amass, new vehicles, and new light and day environment changes. [Update] The Onslaught DLC will hit Xbox Live Thursday, June 24.
On the demo front, Ruffian Games released a trial for Crackdown 2 this week. The demo puts agents back into Pacific City, where each soldier can fight cooperatively with up to four players, as well as earn achievements that will unlock once the full game is released on July 6.
The other demo arriving on Xbox Live this week is for NCAA Football 11. Football fans hoping to get a glimpse of what next season holds can try out the demo today, three weeks ahead of its July 13 date with retail.
Games on Demand additions this week include last year's movie tie-in Bee Movie Game (1,600 MS points or $20) and Mirror's Edge (1,600 MS points or $20), 2008's free-running game from EA DICE.
Arriving on the Xbox Live Arcade this week is Risk: Factions (800 MS points or $10), a title based on the popular Hasbro game, and Duke Nukem Manhattan Project (800 MS points or $10), which was first released on the PC in 2002.
Though the motion picture may be five months away, fans of the Harry Potter universe can get their hands on Lego: Harry Potter Years 1-4 next week. But if that's too far away, Microsoft added Lego Harry Potter gear to the avatar marketplace today. Fans can now pick up all four house robes (320 MS points or $4 each), as well as a wand (400 MS points or $5), for their aspiring magical wizards and witches.
Other add-on content arriving this week includes digital games Jenga, Pictureka! and Connect 4x4 for Hasbro Family Game Night, each priced at 800 MS points ($10).
