Registration is now open for Operation: Winter Invasion. As a part of the final run up to next week's event, the GameSpot tournament servers are also now open. Head on over to the FAQ for information on how to join our subscriber-exclusive Call of Duty 2 tournament servers. Practice play is recommended and these are the same servers we will use for the tournament. There's no better way to prepare for the event, than to familiarize yourself with the lay of the land, and check out the servers' settings and performance.

It's critical to pay close attention to the registration process for team events. Double check your timeslot (all times are in Pacific) and make sure you have 5 players signed up. Also check to see if there's a waitlist of players for your timeslot in case some people don't show up. Try recruiting in the GameSpot tournament forums if you don't already have the full five players or need additional waitlisters.

Use the team communication tool in the headquarters and GameSpot private messages to organize your team before the event and ensure teammates know what to do on the first day of competition.

Both confirmed competitors and those on a waitlist will need to show up early for rollcall. Waitlisted players need to use the check-in button on the HQ page, log into the tournament chat, and wait for the GameSpot admin to call their name. At any time during roll call they have a chance to take a spot by a no-show player for the team they are on the waitlist for, so it is crucial you make sure you aren't shorthanded when you start your match. Remember, if you drop below 4 players for this tournament, your team automatically forfeits and is out of the event.

By communicating and practicing with your new teammates, you'll enhance your chances of winning the tournament and take part of the $2,500 prize purse.
