Earlier this week, it was rumored that developer Treyarch was planning on bringing back old Zombies maps to Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Today, the studio officially confirmed this rumor, revealing that the next DLC pack for Black Ops III is called Zombies Chronicles.

Speaking to YouTuber JCBackfire, studio head Jason Blundell announced that the map pack will include eight maps from past Treyarch-developed Call of Duty games: World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops II.

"One thing we realized was that a lot of our fans have come in later, come in at Black Ops II, or even Black Ops 3," Blundell said. "So those early storyline concepts, those early concepts that really set down the foundation of Zombies--a lot of people hadn't experienced them."

Zombies Chronicles adds:

  • Nacht der Untoten (World at War)
  • Kino der Toten (World at War)
  • Verruckt (World at War)
  • Shi no Numa (World at War)
  • Shangri-la (Black Ops)
  • Moon (Black Ops)
  • Ascension (Black Ops)
  • Origins (Black Ops II)

Zombies Chronicles will be released on PS4 on May 16. Treyarch has not announced when it will come to Xbox One and PC. Past DLC packs typically arrived on Xbox and PC about a month after the PS4 release. The studio will announce more details about the DLC pack on Monday, May 8.

This is a somewhat unusual content drop, as DLC support for Call of Duty games generally ends when the next game in the series is released; Infinite Warfare is the most recent installment in the series. However, Treyarch hinted last year that, due to sustained support for Black Ops III, it wanted to bring more content to the game.

In other Call of Duty news, Call of Duty: WWII is in development at Sledgehammer Games and will launch on November 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can read our coverage of the game here.
