Resident Evil 2 HD in Discussion at Capcom

It appears Capcom is giving meaningful consideration to an HD remake of 1998's Resident Evil 2.

Capcom's Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who produced this year's million-selling Resident Evil HD remaster, wrote on Facebook that he pitched Resident Evil 2 HD to his boss today.

It's unclear how the meeting went. But the image being shared through Capcom's own social channel and presumably with its consent is likely a good sign.

The image refers to the game as Biohazard 2. The Resident Evil series is known as Biohazard in Japan.

Hirabayashi said he started compiling his ideas for Resident Evil 2 HD not long after Resident Evil HD launched in January. None of those ideas have been revealed. You can see the word "confidential" in the image embedded here, which appears to be the game's design document.

Back in 2012, Hirabayashi said the 1998 survival-horror game could get a remake if fans demanded it. And in May 2015, after it was revealed that the latest Resident Evil HD remake had sold more than 1 million copies, Capcom said it was planning even more HD remasters.
