The upcoming movie has plenty of nods to the video game series.

Fans of the Resident Evil game series will be very excited to see the new trailer for the upcoming movie Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which debuted at New York Comic Con. The film will land in theaters on November 24.

From zombies to zombie dogs to a Licker--yes, a Licker--Welcome to Raccoon City takes the audience back to the city where it all began, when a little cooperation Umbrella completely ruined a nice little town. Check out the trailer below and also make sure to read our Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer breakdown.

Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) writes and directs the upcoming movie which stars Kaya Scodelario (Crawl), Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Robbie Amell (Upload), Tom Hopper (Black Sails), Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap), Donal Logue (Gotham), and Neal McDonough (Minority Report).

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City takes place inside the titular city, which was once home to pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation was bustling. After the company left, the city became a wasteland, and now, there's some evil underneath the surface that becomes unleashed. A group of survivors have to work together to survive the night and find out what Umbrella Corporation has really been up to.

Additionally, a poster was revealed for the upcoming movie as well, which you can check out below.

No Caption Provided

Aside from the upcoming November movie, the Resident Evil series had an animated series called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness land on Netflix earlier this year. Additionally, there is a live-action series coming to Netflix as well, and photos of the cast were revealed in June. The first season of the live-action series will contain eight, hour-long episodes. Bronwen Hughes (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) will direct the first two episodes.

The practical effects look very good. The CGI looks multiple generations old. Here's hoping these are the 'work in progress' effects.

still look worse like the previous live action films. by now just make it base on the outbreak series, at least we don't have to see a ugly version of the well know characters we've loved.

capcom doesn't care as long as they getting paid since is their ip.

sony doesn't care as long as they getting paid since their just a movie publisher.

the crew and cast doesn't care, because their getting paid.

This looks pretty good.

Sure it takes some creative liberties, but this looks far more grounded in what Resident Evil is than the other movie series they did.

Should be fun, with far more overt connections to the source material for fans.

Not interested in woke Resident Evil, maybe if they had stayed true to the characters.

I have no expectations that ANY capcom based movie will be good now. None at all. BUT...

This just looks SOOOOOO much better than the crap put out by Paul W Anderson.

I mean, I get that the bar is really, REALLY low when it comes to resident evil movies, but this trailer is closer to the games than the whole Milla Jovovich retirement fund series was.

It looks as if they took the writing of the first game and turned it into a movie directed by Uwe Bowl.

Maybe it's somewhat due to the vapid vertical presentation on Facebook, but the trailer looked awful to me. Actually no, it was just dogshit. Trailers that interrupt written sentences to begin new written sentences - wow.

This looks awful. And hey, I never knew blonde-ass Leon Kennedy was Arabic. Cool.

@oddshroom: Ya I'll probably wait till it comes on one of the streaming sites unless a buddy bugs me to watch it before that. I'm not bothered either way. It looks interesting enough and I'd like another take after the mess that Milla Jovovich's RE movies went. Still liked that first one a lot though.

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: The problem is you'll have to watch it for your opinion to have any weight.

I've seen some pretty crap trailers over the years that didn't do a movie justice. I've also seen a lot more awesome trailers that showed the only good parts of the movie. Only way to know better without regurgitating what others say is to watch it ourselves.

@wahsobe: not really. otherwise we would be watching every single movie ever made. who does that? should we watch RE movie just because its kinda about a game and as a gamer its an obligation to watch

even without watching you can still have opinion "not interested". like some people dont eat octopus just by knowing it seems yucky

some people lie they have seen it and make up all sorts of things. those are different yes

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: No one says we have to watch everything but then when the time comes to comment on it we're left without a valid point of view on the movie. Not interested is kind of as far as that opinion can go. Anything more comes with a lack in any factual experience.

I get your octopus point but some people say something is yucky and they don't want to try it and then when they finally do sometimes they realize they love it. I used to stealth hit people with BBQ eel when first trying Japanese food back when people were still frightened at the thought of eating raw fish. They'd say they love it then I'd come clean. My dad did the same thing to me with snails when I was a kid. He told me it was sautéed mushroom which I loved. Needless to say I love escargot now. So I would still say opinions on basic stuff like this aren't really valid unless you experience it first hand.

This all being said I'm still NEVER going to try Balut!

Yeah a wild ride. Looks like a student project starring cosplayers making a movie for the SyFy network. Sad when CGI from Jurassic Park in 1993 looks better than this.

I gave up on taking these movies seriously a long time ago, and I see it was still the right decision.

Still play the games though.

I liked the Mila movies, so my. Main comment is where is Alice? Or is this a reboot of the franchise? Now back to the Paul Anderson movies, they were not all that bad there were a few WTF moments but I enjoyed them.

It looks like they will somehow manage to make a RE movie worse than the Mila vehicles. Prolly full of woke trash writing on top of the weak racewashing.

Take this whole era and burn it.

Anyway... The fact that they're trying to push RE1 and RE2 together into one movie is really weird to me. We'll see if they can pull it off. I'll go see it in theaters though, because I support more faithful adaptations than what the Paul W.S. Anderson movies did.

@WarGreymon77: I have a hard time seeing all of RE1 having enough content to fit into a 2 hour movie. It worked as a game, but you can't have the same moments and pace in a movie that you do with a game. I kind of see the point of mashing them into one.

@YukoAsho: that makes too much sense. Just like taking the classic stories of anything and making them the best they can be on film keeps losing out to wokewashes and trying to jam many arcs and verses into one thing mixed with really bad "original" crap. Video Games especially have long suffered this kind of filmic abuse. but these days it seems nearly everything that was good is being remade as a poor substitute for diversity...which would be adding new original stories, not just painting over the classics with dark skin or vaginas.

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: Well, with that, there's no reason to make any of these. Just wondering why the rush. Clearly it's not like they're putting anything resembling a budget into this thing, I figured they'd wanna stretch out the franchise a bit.
