Rick And Morty Season 4 Comes To HBO Max This Weekend

And in all its uncensored glory, to boot.

Comments

Season 4 of Rick and Morty will be coming to HBO Max on November 1, completely uncensored, according to an announcement made on the show's official Twitter account.

From a sheer patience perspective, this is something of a minor victory for fans of the popular dark, goofy, and proudly obnoxious sci-fi Adult Swim show. The fourth season was split up into two halves, with five episodes airing across November and December 2019 before the second half's final five airing in May earlier this year.

After this coming weekend, fans will be able to watch the entire (so far) run of the show--though it's still a comparative drop in the bucket compared to what was announced before Season 4 started airing: In 2018, co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland revealed that Adult Swim had ordered 70 new episodes.

Despite the countless movies and TV shows that have been delayed, canceled, or otherwise disrupted by the global coronavirus pandemic this year, Rick and Morty is proving the prevailing wisdom that animation should be less impacted by it correct. In a virtual panel at PaleyFest NY 2020, Harmon recently shared that, "We're more on schedule than we've ever been. It kind of makes you have to focus on the whole process when you don't have this office environment anymore. Everyone has to run this bee colony remotely, so the honey just gets made more consistently. It's working for us."

In the panel, Harmon indicated that Season 5 is likely closer than fans might expect, and that they're "very late into the process of writing Season 6." Season 5 doesn't yet have an air date, but at least pretty soon you can watch all four seasons in all their glory on HBO Max.
