As reported yesterday, Riot Korea and League of Legends have been under fire as the Korean government looks deeply into gaming addiction and the addition of their "Cooltime" law. The law would limit the amount of playing time for an online game before mandating a break. If passed, it may have severe ramifications on the Korean esports culture, both for upcoming talent, major teams, and their sponsors.
Today it was reported that Riot Korea has put a block on the fan art page due to pressure from the Korean government, who considered some of the images too adult for children to be viewing and contributed to gaming addiction.
It is unclear if users need to log in to view the fan art, thus verifying their age, or if the page was taken down entirely.
You can attempt to see the fan art page here, but when onGamers attempted to access it in the United States, the page appeared blocked. One of the images used as an example to force Riot's decision can be seen to the right.
What do you think? Is the Korean government pushing too hard, or is Riot Korea doing the right thing by blocking the fan art page?
