Robert Pattinson's Batman Is A Trilogy

Three movies with Robert Pattinson as Batman are on the way, the first of which is coming out in 2021.

Robert Pattinson is the new Batman, and the upcoming 2021 film will be the first in a new trilogy. That's according to Deadline, which said he heard from sources that Warner Bros. is preparing three Batman movies under "The Batman" name.

Matt Reeves, who directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes, is directing the three new Batman movies.

Now Playing: The 20 Biggest Movies To Watch In 2019

The Batman 1 is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021, but no dates have been set for the two sequels. Apart from Pattinson, no other actors for The Batman have been announced, while story details are under wraps for now as well. Nicholas Hoult was reportedly the other front-runner to get the role of Batman before Warner Bros. decided on Pattinson.

No Caption Provided

Pattinson is perhaps best known for his starring role in the Twilight series as Edward Cullen. Before that, Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. His latest movie was the black-and-white horror film The Lighthouse.

Ben Affleck was originally set to star and direct The Batman. Affleck, who played Batman in Batman v. Superman and Justice League, stepped down as director in early 2017, and more recently confirmed that he was no longer involved at all, stating that he had "tried to direct a version of it, but couldn't crack it."

In a recent interview, Reeves hinted at what fans could expect from the movie. "It's very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale," he said. "It's told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it's going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional.

"It's more Batman in his detective mode than we've seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective, and that's not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been."

Batman is going to take Vicki Vale to the woods and show her that his skin sparkles when the light from the bat signal hits it. Then they will return to Wayne Manner and make pizza roles in the Bat-fryer.

How this Batman will work along current dc movie universe (I'm sorry if I'm not naming it right)? OR it will be totally separated like Dark Knight?

@santinegrete: I'm pretty sure DC said they gave up on the shared universe thing, and are just gonna focus on this multiverse of characters.

The Dark Knight will always be my favorite, but I've long accepted that Batman movies will keep churning out. We're due for another serious attempt at the lore.

The idea of the detective approach sounds pretty cool. They just need a villain who can have thier wits matched.

As for Patterson, I don't really care what role he did 10 years ago. If he can bulk up and talk gruff, it might just fly. He seems a tad young for such a role though. But maybe that's just an old pic used for click bait.

So is his Batman in the same universe as the current Wonder Woman and Aquaman? How's this all work now? DC really fucked up their universe building since Man of Steel.

I'm not going to watch sparkly Batman, than you very much...everyone who was in the Twilight movies needs to go away, I hate them in everything they're in because they're terrible actors, so this is just more crap movies that DC is putting out. Why can they only make good cartoons?

@eldrach: Yup, perfect the way it is. They should have done Batman 2nd generation, the illegitimate son of Batman. Just make the new Batman the son of the previous one & I will buy it. How many times can we watch Batman remakes? Heck they should just pick a really young Batman in their teens & just extended throughout their life, a 10 year $300 million movie deal for the actor.

Can we make a law that states movies can't be remade under a 10 year period?

I remember when people freaked out about Heath Ledger being Joker. "The gay guy from Brokeback Mountain?" The dude got a lot of hate and he was probably the best perforamance of any Batman movie ever. I am willing to give this guy a chance regardless of the fact that I truly disliked twilight.

@millionsedge: I couldn't stand Affleck as Batman, ruined it for me and to top it off fighting Superman was just a joke in futility, it was more comical than believable. I don't like most of his movies, but Reindeer Games & The Accountant impressed me though, I never knew I could like one of his movies.

@cboye18: That wasnt his fault that the writer of twilight turned vampires into some weird, day walking, shiny skin pansies...... but to have him play one of the worlds most bad-ass heroes without super powers.... I dont know about this.

Of course it is, because everything always has to be a trilogy now.

@cylor: No, everything has to be a film universe now. Trilogies are now a refreshing concept again thanks to the universe attempt overkill.

Is he going to play Dracula next, so he can be both a bat and a vampire? In all seriousness, I'll give him a chance. It really is dependant on the style of the story they're telling and how it's filmed that will make or break his Batman rather than just him playing Batman itself.

Idk, I think he could do alright. Kinda hard to tell until you at least see a trailer of the actor in character. I agree that seeing more of a "detective" Batman piecing together clues between run-ins and solving riddles would make for a different sort of Batman movie.

Well, at least they're letting us know right off the bat that they've learned nothing. Aquaman and Shazam were a solid fake-out, as I thought they were starting to get it.

@irritatedstick: Online geeks are funny people. Time and again proving they don't know anything about how things work in the real world. It's been many years since twilight. You need to get over it, kid. David Cronenberg has been getting great work from Pattinson for awhile now. He's a solid actor, and I don't know why people think Batman is such a hard character to "get."

It's often less about him and the actor playing him than the script and direction being given.

Looks like the DC verse is in solid reset mode. Which is a shame, because I really like WonderWoman and Aquaman, want to see more of them (not just in solo films).

Casting for Flash was terrible though (as well as direction) and Cyborg was boring. We can do better. Those actors contracts are up, so its likely we'll get new ones.

I like the sound of the new Batman films' direction. Noir/more detective Batman. We need a more tactical Batman, not just a brute in a cap.

I gotta give them credit. Instead of destroying one Batman movie, they are going all in with three. They didn't even do that when they had Ben Affleck!

@Wraith3: I'll wait for a trailer just like I did for Affleck. At least it was more obvious that the movie was going to suck at that point...

Not going to childishly assume the worst because he did 1 dumb role.
