Rockstar Gives Away Pagers
Rockstar Games announces a new promotion that gives gamers a free Motorola pager with the purchase of a game.
Rockstar Games announced on Wednesday that it has signed a deal with PageMaster Corporation, an agent of Motorola, that lets Rockstar give a free Motorola Wordline FLX pager with the purchase of any of its games. The pager (which has a suggested retail value of US$110) will comewith free activation (normally $20), provided the purchaser signs up for a year's worth of airtime service.
The pagers offered in this deal will be branded with the Rockstar name and logo, and will also be set up so gamers can receive new details on Rockstar games and promotions as they come about. "This promotion is unprecedented in our industry," said Terry Donovan, COO of Rockstar Games. "We are giving the fans of Rockstar Games a reward three times the average purchase price of one of our games, and research shows that most Americans who own pagers, or would like to own pagers, fit neatly into our 12-25 target demographic." He went on to say, "It's a perfect fit for our games and the people who buy them, as well as a huge opportunity to extend the 'lifestyle' appeal of Rockstar by communicating with our consumers in a fashionable, forward-thinking fashion."
