RollerCoaster Tycoon turns 15, get all three games for under $10

GOG offering a nice discount on the first three games in the series today.

No Caption Provided

The RollerCoaster Tycoon series launched 15 years ago today in North America, and to mark the occasion, The Witcher developer CD Projekt's online store Good Old Games (GOG) is offering all three games for a total of $8.17.

If you don't want all three, you can buy RollerCoaster Tycoon: Deluxe, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack, and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum individually for $1.19, $1.99, and $4.99 respectively. The offer expires Wednesday, April 2, at 9:59 a.m GMT.

Two weeks ago during GDC 2014, Atari announced RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 for mobiles. A version of the game is also coming to PC, but Atari isn't saying much about it just yet.

What a beautiful franchise. Can't wait what Atari has planned to ruin the franchise some more.

Only thing that bugged me in the first game were the water slides... there's no water in them!

Its an awesome game this. However, for RCT3 the new stupid AMD drivers make it laggy as hell and they need to update it. Its the only game that stutters that i have. Its simply because of the drivers. AMD drivers 13.4 i think were the last time RCT3 played well.

P.S i LOVE RCT3. You can create the coolest parks and rollercoasters and the single player campaigns are great to.

RCT1 and RCT2 are two of my favorite business simulators of all time, but I find RCT3 quite boring. Something about I don't like, don't know.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I don't quite get it myself, I think 3 has the best gameplay of the series, and the "Soaked!" expansion adds more than any of the expansions for the first 2 games. On the other hand, 3 is also as buggy as a Bethesda game at times, and it's graphics engine is poorly optimized.

@Zloth2 @Gordaton The Rift can't emulate the breeze in your hair/arms, the weightlessness, the g-pull around corners, the bumpiness, or the smells of a theme-park.

But the feeling of height, the heart-racing feeling of that I can definitely get behind.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Well, given the g-forces a lot of player made coasters pull, I'm thinking that's a good thing. ;)

Right now the Rift actually has a roller coaster demo but it's a *very* tame coaster.

Already have all three, but it would be nice to have digital copies of the first two. Plus, I don't have the add ons for the second.

RCT3 is alright, but the first is still the best. I didn't like the graphical style, interface, or lack of civilian deaths in the third. It's okay, but could've been better.

RollerCoaster Tycoon and Duke 3D are why I got a pc in the first place. 15 years? Damn. Doesn't seem like that long.

@kitmeep @DrKill09 No, they can't. You launch them off a rollercoaster to nowhere, and they don't die. The cars don't explode, either.

Not like the first two. It's pathetic.

RollerCoaster Tycoon was a game that my entire family enjoyed. I remember pouring so many hours into it. I'm disappointed that Steam never got the original one. I didn't the 3d graphics of the newer ones.

Heck, I still have the box laying around here somewhere. Maybe I'll have to install it, and give it another go.

Both of the first RCTs with all expansion packs for under £2, I'll take that! Love those games, its a great bargin. I have RCT1 but not the expansions; never played RCT2 but it looked just as good as the first. I'm one happy customer :)

You have to take G-forces into account. For example, if you take a steel roller coaster up to max height before dropping it all the way down into a regular (or even worse, short) turn, you just cranked the G-forces off the charts. In that case, the banked turns are your friend. They take up a lot of space, but they cut down on that problem significantly. That's usually the problem area, but the same can happen if you shoot them upwards and then level them out again before the train has some time to slow down from the incline.

The 3 G-force points to watch for when designing are:

-Upwards (flying out of the seat)

-Downwards (getting squashed into the seat)

-Sideways (getting shoved to one side or the other)

If I recall correctly, testing the coaster before opening it will give you the results of the G-forces on one of the ride's tabs. Anything over 5 Gs is pushing it. Some guests will take up to 8 or 9 (in my experience playing the original), but if the ride isn't incredibly satisfying, the line will slowly dwindle to nothing. Design it well, and even with a max of 8 or 9 Gs it can be routinely packed.

Nothing quite like building a crap rollercoaster, opening it up, and watching guests fly off and explode into the ground.

Good times. I'm good at the game, but sometimes it's just plain fun to fill your park with death coasters and $30 toilets! XD

If you do not own RCT, now is the best chance to snag them up. The first two are spectacular and a blast to play. I personally consider the third to be a step down, but it's still worth playing if you're a fan of the series.

So, buy RCT and start wrecking coasters!

I wonder if these will play on newer PCs....I have all three games on disc, and I can only get the first one to play. I tried everything I know to get the second one to play but it just wasn't compatible and won't boot up.

They need a new one using its classic isometric design and include a editor kit for integration of mods. I'll buy it.

Sweet, still have great memories of the first game, it was the first PC game I ever owned! RTC 3 is awesome as well, and I don't think I played RCT2, but it seems exactly like RCT1 in most respects.

This park in the picture though... is rather ugly lol.

These games have great expansion packs too, unlike nearly every game released now!
