Rust Might Be Releasing On Consoles Sooner Than You Think

Multiplayer survival game Rust was announced for consoles in 2019, but it took until December 2020 for developer Double Eleven to confirm that the port would only be releasing in 2021. Despite the delay, the release might not be too far off.

The ESRB has published a rating for Rust on consoles, indicating that the game might not be too far away from launch. The rating mentions many of the gameplay elements Rust has become known for, including its brutal combat and variety of weapons.

"Battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire and explosions," the listing reads. "When human enemies are killed, they can be harvested for body parts and cooked for food."

The ESRB has rated Rust M for Mature, while listing PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as release platforms. The listing doesn't mention a potential release date, but it's common for games to be rated shortly before their release.

Facepunch's survival game launched out of Early Access nearly three years ago on PC, but failed to impress at the time according to GameSpot's 3/10 Rust review. The game has changed since then thanks to large content patches and recently become even more popular on Twitch. A big patch for Rust also recently launched, and the game now had Twitch drops for those watching it.
