Sanctuary rocks the PSP

Iron Maiden, INXS, and Bob Marley UMDs to be released following PSP's European and Australian launches.

Comments

Sony's PSP will be hitting stores in Europe and Australia on September 1, and Sanctuary Records is hoping to capitalize on the event with UMD releases of live shows from some of the regions' homegrown bands. Recorded concerts from Iron Maiden, INXS, and Bob Marley fill out the music lineup, along with releases of UMD versions of the films Dune and Blue Velvet.

Iron Maiden's 2002 show Rock in Rio will be released at the same time as the handheld on September 1. 1991's Live Baby Live from INXS and the 1979 concert Live from Santa Barbara by Bob Marley will follow on September 12. The two films will be released in October.

As Sony's proprietary format for the PSP, UMDs have a 1.8GB capacity, or about 140 minutes of DVD-quality video. All of the music and movie releases will carry a price of 10.21 pounds ($18.50). No plans have been announced for stateside releases.
