Scott Pilgrim vs. The World sprawls onto PSN

The "epic of epic epicness," Scott Pilgrim vs. The World starring Michael Cera, hits theaters August 13, but the game of the same name hit the PSN today. Available for $9.99, the four-player offline brawler takes the premise of the original comics and combines it with side-scrolling action. It also features 8-bit art by renowned pixel artist Paul Robertson.

Sony added just one PlayStation One game to its virtual storefront today, Crash Team Racing ($9.99). Developed by Naughty Dog, the 1999 title is the first Crash title in the racing genre and the last Bandicoot game developed by the now-storied Uncharted developer. In the kart racer, players can speed around the game's courses as one of 15 Crash universe characters and use items to thwart their foes.

Switching to the demo front, 2K's '40s and '50s crime action sequel now has a sampler available for gamers to download. The game casts players as Vito, an up-and-coming member of the Mafia in Empire Bay. The sampler thrusts players into Vito's first serious assignment, where he'll need to "get the job done" by whatever means necessary.

The other demo added this week is for Sony's upcoming PSP role-playing game Valkyria Chronicles II. The trial thrusts players into the civil war in Gallia, where gamers will need to lead fellow cadets through tactical strategy in order to succeed. The game--which was released in Japan in January--is due out in full August 31.

The only full-game download available for the PSP this week is Madden NFL 11 ($39.99). The portable version of EA Sports' annualized franchise packs in new commentary from football icon Gus Johnson.

For those looking to get more out of their existing games, Sony added new content for Red Dead Redemption, Naughty Bear, and Dragon Age: Origins today. Rockstar Games' Western welcomes the Legends and Killers Pack ($9.99); Naughty Bear plays host to the free Danger Bear content; and Dragon Age: Origins is assaulted with the Golems of Amgarrak ($4.99) content.

Living room rock gods and goddesses this week can look forward to new content for Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Rock Band adds a three-pack from industrial music act Ministry, and Guitar Hero welcomes a triple-shot of Canadian punk courtesy of Sum 41.
