Scrooge McDuck Voice Actor Dies at 96

Alan Young, who voiced Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales and various video games, passed away Thursday.

Alan Young, the voice of Scrooge McDuck, passed away at 96 at the Motion Picture and Television Home in Woodland Hills in California Thursday, a spokesperson announced.

Young played Scrooge McDuck in the '80s animated show, DuckTales. He also portrayed the role in various television shows and movies, as well as video games Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and DuckTales Remastered. Most recently, he voiced the rich uncle of Donald Duck in the modern Mickey Mouse animated series.

He's also known for his five-year role in the 1960s talking-horse sitcom, Mister Ed, and his appearance in HG Wells' The Time Machine. Additionally, he voiced many animated characters over the years for movies and television shows like Mickey's Christmas Carol, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Ren & Stimpy Show.
