Secret World beta begins May 11

Well I was highly interested on playing this game.Actually been waiting it since its anouncement.I made the mistake to pre order swtor and i was diassapointed for good.Now i hope that funcom learned the right lesson From Conan and this will be a great hit.

Guys dont start trolling about F2P just because you dont wanna pay for a game.It comes down to each Company'S Policy not your budget :)

I tried it ,I hated it.

Bit simplistic but that's the gist of it.I was doing ok bumbling along collecting stuff,killing stuff,questing and came to a quest that should have been easy,just collect a few things and kill a few mobs......I ran around and around the same damned area for about 2 hours looking for a piece of paper which I KNOW was not on the ground and finally found it lying in the open in an area I'd been through a million times.

It was at this point that I decided that although I can deal with the 2002 style gfx I wasn't willing to play something that seemed so fundamentally messed up.

Also the awesome combat just didn't feel awesome to me at all.

I may give it another shot as I'm in the Beta but the fact that I stopped playing at approx 6 to 8 hours gametime and didn't go back doesn't bode well.

God I love this game. My brain has been looking for something to do in an MMO for years now and this is the answer! The Investigation (and a lot of the Sabatoge) missions make this a game I hope future MMO's will attempt to live up to. Truly great.

Just for the Record - I have gotten sucked outside of the game 2x now and ended up in space with a big Square of Rock - which I am guessing is where London is situated within ...lol .......... But I digress - when in there - I called for help as there was no way out - /stuck and Recall did not work - a GM was with me in Seconds and got me back into the real world - Thanks Guys.

One thing they HAVE TO CHANGE! The ACTION BAR! Were they so busy thinking of plots that they Forgot we need more than 7 tabs on ONE action bar? Yup that is right we get just ONE action Bar !!!!! with a Miserable 7 Tabs!!!! Come on guys - if you ever look at these forums - One Action Bar with a Miserable 7 tabs is RIDICULOUS!!!!

WHERE are we to put our potions etc. FOR EASE OF USE or just Convenient for foods!

I am guessing as we move along with Skills we will have more than 7 Skills - so will need MORE than 7 Tabs on an Action Bar!

When needing a potion - what are we supposed to do - hit I then get take the potion?? By that time we could be dead!

Give us something we can use - it is always better to allow a player to Personalise the look of their game - to suit their style of game play

I saw the Video on YouTube when he was saying they were thinking of making skins for the players to DL - now that smacks of a Game Shop to me - are they going to Expect us to PAY for skins so we can personalise this?

If so that is Totally OUT OF ORDER! This is a Subscription game - and as such only Extremely Special things should be in the Game Shop not things you have to use in-game! More like Ornaments or T-Shirts etc. and if it is an In-game item - then although some of the game companies do this [cough......Blizzard!!!] This is also Out of Order - as people are Paying a monthly subscription - STOP Being so GREEDY!!! Be good to your Players - they are your Bread and Butter!!!!

The concept of an RPG with free skill combination gets me fairly excited. However the concept of the EA/Funcom combination puts me off to no end.

Im going to play the beta of this game then decide just like TERA. This game does look promising.

Could be good. I've been looking for a different sort of MMO, one that doesn't follow the overdone Everquest/WOW formula. An MMO without levels and classes could be very refreshing, and I'd like to see how the game actually plays. This one has been in development for a few years now. I think I will keep my eye on it.

This a trailer - short movie style. I wonder how many people think that this is actual gameplay? I will wait to see actual gameplay before I make any decisions. I have been around long enough to know that these little movie trailers always look nothing like the real game.

A beta held 6 weeks before a games release is not a beta, it's a demo.

I can't remark on all the hate directed at Funcom, I don't own any of their games. I will say this looks extremely unique and graphically hot. -An HP Lovecraft inspired MMO should be given the benefit of the doubt.

No way. If user-reviews are solidly great 3+ months after release, then I'll consider it.

Would have gotten the life-time sub, but having micro transactions in the game makes me feel it will go free-to-play.

EA? It slso has FUNCOM's name on it. That's another name that sets off my alarm bells.

Didn't realise it was EA publishing.I was going to give the beta a try but I'm not going to pay to do so and feed more cash to the BEAST that EA has become. They pulled this same crap with TERA beta too.I'm guessing they've bought into the idea that people value stuff they have to pay for more than free stuff.....plus they can massage cash from us at the same time.Hell NO! I say screw EA!

OMG now i knew that EA is involved with this ,... thx god i didnt preorder this , i'm 100% sure it's a crapyyyyyyy **** .. GW2 is the game and that's a final decision for me .

i can't believe people still blindly buy into mmo hype and pre-order, this is the same company that made age of conan. You really think this mmo is going to promise anything revolutionary. You haven't even played and you're pre-ordering? game companies love people like you, just hand over your credit card

got my pre order! i've never pre ordered anything. Hey, it's Ragnar, he's a genius. I put him in the same league as Peter Molyneux, Sid Meier and Will Wright. I really don't understand peoples negativity over this project. is it because it's an mmo and have a natural bias, or it's funcom, (play longest journeys if it is, because they are awesome) or the genre? To those close minded fools, get out of your bedroom and open your eyes.

Funcom+EA= ...?

I ranked this game as a contender for one I may be interested in playing, but having just looked at the pre-order page, I've changed my mind. The fact that you have the opportunity to spend as much as $350.00 US on the game months before it comes out shows me how pervasive the greed is within the companies issuing this title. Being that one of the companies is EA, this is hardly a surprise. I don't support games where real-world dolla's translate to in-game power. Pay for cosmetic upgrades - fine.. but I don't wanna compete with someone else's real wallet. Shame. Yet another game where real-life policies keep me from buying it. I hate these new trends.

Oh come on EA , seriously? 10th april whoever preorders GW2 are in beta , 15th may Diablo 3 is out , 1st may TERA is out... Wtf... Let this storm pass before you do anything fancy like Secret world betas and preorders... I bet youll end up without beta testers.

I'll take a look purely because the writer is a genius, but I'm expecting more of the same MMO blandness.

@GreenBronco The thing is, they aren't going to have a shortage of people applying for the beta, and it's nice to have the option of guaranteed entry. The game doesn't cost any extra, so I don't get the controversy. Not only that, but pre-ordering perks have been around forever. Besides, there's always enough information to be had before you make a purchase, plus there will probably be a trial at some point. I can understand why people get upset at greed, but gamer entitlement can be just as bad.

how bout we play the beta, help you test your game before release, then, if we like what we see we will preorder a copy. Damn im sick of how gaming is turning into companies bleeding every dollar they can out of their fans.

Looks kinda interesting. But I'll definitely have to wait and see before I pay anything.

Please be good! The idea is epic, I just hope with all the time funcom is putting into it will be well used.

I'm really looking forward to this one, especially after SWTOR was such a letdown for me. Really tempted to preorder for beta access alone. If the game is really good I would drop the money on a lifetime sub, but not before I have a chance to beta it. Anyone know if the lifetime sub is a preorder exclusive or can you get a lifetime sub separate from the actual game purchase later on down the road?

I wish I didn't have to preorder to get in the beta.

Initiate or grandmaster pack??? $199 is actually cheap for a life time sub. quite tempted 8) Think I'll wait until PAX is over to see what people think about the game... Looks like a game I'd spend more than 13 months with though ;)

It's Funcom. It's going to be a disaster.
