See Game of Thrones Star in First Trailer for Cool-Looking Superhero Movie
An attack leaves fragments of a smartphone in a boy's brain--and gives him superpowers.
The first trailer for the Netflix movie iBoy has arrived--and it looks pretty cool.
The story focuses on a teenage boy (Bill Milner), who gets in a fight after trying to stop thugs from assaulting his friend Lucy (Maisie Williams). Somehow, pieces of his smartphone get embedded in his brain during the fight and, after waking up from a coma, he finds that he has superpowers. These include the ability to read minds (sort of) and access information like where to kick someone to inflict the most damage. The premise is, "What if your reality got an upgrade?"
The boy uses these powers to get revenge on the gang that attacked Lucy. She appears to be some kind of high-value target (for reasons unknown) and there is a bad guy played by James Bond series actor Rory Kinnear who is out to find her.
iBoy comes to Netflix on January 27. It is based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Kevin Brooks.
Williams will also be seen in the seventh season of HBO's Game of Thrones, which premieres this year.
