See PGA Tour 2K21's Career Mode In A New Trailer
2K's latest trailer for PGA Tour 2K21 spotlights the career mode, which sees you playing against real-world PGA Tour athletes.
2K Sports has released a new trailer for its upcoming golf game, PGA Tour 2K21, showcasing the game's career mode. Players will create a character and then challenge real-life PGA Tour pros like Justin Thomas and Sergio Garcia, as they progress through a season in the lead up to the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Players must defeat the 12 PGA Tour pros on 15 real-world courses to claim victory. You'll begin in qualifying school (Q-School) tournaments, before moving on to the Korn Ferry Tour, and then the PGA Tour. After that, it's onto the FedEx Cup playoffs for a chance at winning it all.
PGA Tour 2K21 is 2K's second professional golf game, following The Golf Club 2019. That game featured some PGA Tour courses, but no real-world professional athletes. PGA Tour 2K21 includes 12 real-life players--you can see the full list here. The trailer also features the voices of Luke Elvy and Rich Beem, who make up the new commentary team for PGA Tour 2K21.
In addition to its career mode, PGA Tour 2K21 has multiplayer modes and a number of different gametypes. There is also a course-editor, and lots of officially licensed golf gear and brands, such as Callway and Taylor Made, among many others.
PGA Tour 2K21 launches on August 21 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, and it will enter the market with little to no competition in the officially licensed golf simulation market. EA stopped developing its own PGA Tour games after it parted ways with Tiger Woods. The company tried to rebrand the franchise with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, but that franchise was dumped after one release.
The real-life PGA Tour postponed its season in March due to the COVID-19 crisis. It started back up again recently with the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas, though spectators were not allowed, and the event featured numerous social-distancing and health protections.
