Other details about Hamill's character in Star Citizen are not available. This isn't Hamill's first video game role, as he also played The Joker in Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham games.
It's also not the first time he's worked with Star Citizen creator Chris Roberts. Hamill appeared in 1999's Wing Commander, based on the game of the same name that Roberts created.
Hamill is joined in Squadron 42 by other A-list actors like Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight), Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises), and Mark Strong (Kingsman), among others. Even more actors will be announced later.
The crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen started three years ago. To date, developer Cloud Imperium has raised more than $94 million. A release date for the final version of the game has not been announced, though Squadron 42 is expected to ship in 2016.
