See the Brutal Wolverine Moment Not Shown in Logan's US Trailer

Watch Wolverine turn a guy's head into a shish kebab.

Logan, the next Wolverine movie, got its first trailer today, but if you were watching the North American version (above), you missed out on one heck of a scene. The international trailer is a few seconds longer and features a moment which has Wolverine pushing his adamantium claws through a man's skull.

The upcoming movie is confirmed to be R-rated, and this scene shows that it's sitting comfortably in that space. You can see it for yourself in the GIF below.

Now Playing: Logan - Official Trailer

Director James Mangold broke down the trailer with Empire and said the moment represents the "aggressive, classical Wolverine action that we want in the movie--more of something that fans have been asking for, for a really long time."

"We've been limited in one way or another from giving it to them, but I think we've got the go-ahead to really go for it on this picture," he continued. "So we're really trying to deliver what folks have always imagined those kind of battles would look like. There is a lot of high-octane action in the movie. We're just trying to do it very differently and very viscerally."

When production began back in May, producer Simon Kinberg talked about Wolverine and the tone of Logan.

"It's a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you've ever seen in any of these [other] movies," Kinberg said. "It takes place in the future, and ... it is an R-rated movie. It's violent, it's kind of like a western in its tone. It's just a very cool, different film."

Logan opens in theaters next year on March 3 and is set to be Hugh Jackman's final appearance as the character. In addition to Jackman, Logan stars Patrick Stewart (X-Men), Stephen Merchant (Portal 2), Doris Morgado (2 Guns), Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl), and Elizabeth Rodriguez (The Drop).

Mangold recently released images of a much older Wolverine and Professor X, in addition to one of Caliban, who makes his first appearance in Logan. They're black-and-white and quite striking.

Nice. Guessing the little girl is X-23? Seeing as she's like Logan. Probably the military is trying to retrieve her and Logan has to protect her. Pretty neat how she was created for the tv-show but ended up being written into the comics.

Glad Deadpool opened the door for more R-rated comic book films. I'll go see Logan at the cinema when I usually don't even bother at all with the PG-13 movies.

Had no idea that was the international version because the one I saw had that scene in it. Odd.

Hmmm... Unless he loses his healing powers, I don't see how his look (old and scarred) fits Wolverine...

@fitzy_2812: But I thought his healing didn't let him age, considering he's already hundreds of years old? It just seems weird.

@m4a5: as he ages his healing powers start to weaken but he still ages at a much slower rate with it and he's not hundred of year old. just ignore the origins film since it's not considered cannon it was a money making film for fox

@normanislost: I'm not going by that, a simple google search says he was born before the 1900's

@m4a5: His healing slows his aging considerably, but he still ages. Evidenced by the fact he was once a child if you want proof from the movies.

@fitzy_2812: Yeah, but unless this is far into the future, it just looks weird. Looking at Days of Futures past (as a movie), he didn't look very old at all...

@m4a5: There is no indication of how far into the future this is and I'm certain a few liberties were taken with the timeline anyway to fit the story into a time period they were comfortable with. Either way, he still ages but it looks as though they may have sped up the process a little in order to fit it into the story. Without seeing the full story, its basically just guessing at this point but the precedent is certainly there.

@fitzy_2812: Is there like a ratio on his age as compared to normal mutants aging. Like for every 1 year of normal aging for Wolvie, is it like 20 years for a regular mutant/ human?

I guess all good things must pass, I really think Jackman should reconsider on it being the last. Even if it's just a few cameo appearances in say deadpool or whatever.

I can't imagine someone who could portray the character as well; he's really become part of the Wolverine mythos at this point.

@Richardthe3rd: I think if Deadpool 2 does as well as the first then fox will throw some money at him to get him in the third film

@normanislost: let's hope. Just seems like a shame that we won't get Jackman in a Deadpool movie if this is his last. I think that'd be pretty huge.
