Sega bringing four more to Wii VC

Sword of Vermillion, Vectorman, Beyond Oasis, and Sonic Spinball added to list of Genesis games coming soon to Virtual Console downloadable game service.

It's a green plane! It's a bunch of giant flying peas! It's Vectorman!
It's a green plane! It's a bunch of giant flying peas! It's Vectorman!

The steady stream of new additions to Nintendo's library of downloadable retro games for the Wii's Virtual Console every week means an equally steady stream of newly revealed games for the service. While it has yet to finish off releasing its previously announced slate of first quarter releases, Sega today announced that four more Genesis games are making their way to the Wii in the near future.

The key words in this round of games are "action" and "role-playing." Vectorman is an action-heavy platformer known for its stiff difficulty, while Sonic Spinball uses the speed and surroundings of Sega's lead mascot for a frantic take on traditional pinball. The remaining two games announced today by Sega are a pair of action role-playing games that bookend the Genesis' lifespan. Sword of Vermillion was a first-year entry into the US Genesis catalog, while Beyond Oasis didn't arrive until late in 1994, after the Sega Saturn had already launched in Japan.

In addition to these offerings, the shoot-'em-up Bio-Hazard Battle has already been confirmed for release on the Wii Virtual Console by the end of March.

More great Sega titles. Beyond Oasis is arguably the best Zelda type game on the Genesis. Sonic Spinball is pretty fun too. I never played Vectorman but I heard it was very good. Legend of Oasis for Saturn should come too, as well as a few more Saturn games.

Someone take away my credit cards, I am addicted to VC! I remember Vectorman as the game with the cutting edge '3D' graphics. It makes me laugh now, but that game was amazing when it came out.

Really, on my small monitor, I thought that was an early drawing of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. I really gotta start paying more attention to these games...

I always wanted to play Vectorman back during the 16-bit wars of yore. . .but I was with the wrong camp. (Not that I had it rough with the Big N then.) The Virtual Console titles just keep piling up for me, though. . .Between great DS /Wii titles and Magic's Time Spiral block, I'm having trouble determining what has to give from some VC lovin'. (And no, emulation's not an option in my eyes. . .at least not for titles already released on the VC.)

Fade... fade fade... did you ever even play the wonderful Sword of Vermillion? Obviously not. It rocked. And needs a sequel!!! The gaming gods have finally come forth from the shadows and summoned a forgotten warrior from the RPG depths. Thank you. This needed to be done!!!

Beyond Oasis, Vectorman, and Sonic Spinball will be nice additions to VC. I already have them in my Genesis collection though, so I wouldn't download them if I had a Wii. Sword of Vermillion? Well, they can't all be winners.

Sword of Vermillion = Awesome ...this is great. The VC truly isn't just a stupid idea, rather an excellent feature for the longtime gamers who want not only the popular games but also the not so well known games that were great too.

Actually, if you have a router and connect the Wii to it directly and that router connects to the PC with dial up, you can use dial up.

Indeed, one of the main reasons to get a Wii. And a good reason at that! Too bad ya need broadband access to download these games. A person can download these games over dial-up, and play them on an emulator. Why don't Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony understand that brodband isn't as big a chunk of the "internet connection pie" as they think? This, w/ out a doubt, hurts not only them, but people who can't get broadband, like me, since this group of non-broadband users can't utilize some cool features of these systems.

BEYOND OASIS HERE I COME!!! I owned the cart but the save battery burned out within 3 months of me owning it... now i can finally play that game again. To PixyMisao: The game for saturn was a prequel to Beyond Oasis. Both are great games and should be purchased by everyone who loves a good top-down adventure game
