It's one of those partnerships that just makes you say, "huh?" Sega creates an alliance with Swiss watchmaker Swatch.

Sega Enterprises announced on Tuesday that it has entered into a partnership with leading Swiss watch brand, Swatch. The partnership will focus on the implementation of Swatch's contactless technology into Sega products. The Swatch Group created Swatch Internet Time (measured in Swatch beats), known by many as the Timekeeper of Cyberspace.

According to Sega, "The planned co-operation between the two companies will encompass three main areas of activity:

* The integration of Internet Time (Swatch beats) into Sega's world.

* Incorporation of a reader in the Dreamcast machine to link with swatch watches to give access to the innovative new game world.

* Creation of new games using the pooled creativity of Swatch and Sega"

How this collaboration will benefit the Dreamcast or its users remains to be seen. We'll bring you more as we hear it.
