Seinfeld Frogger record squashed
Connecticut man bests George Costanza's fictional long-standing high mark on Konami's classic strategy coin-op with 896,980 points.

Seinfeld has been off the air for more than a decade now, but George Costanza (portrayed by Jason Alexander) continues to take the hits. This week, imminent coin-op stat tracker Twin Galaxies announced that Pat Laffaye of Westport, Connecticut, had bested Costanza's seemingly insurmountable Frogger high score of 860,630, posting a new World Record mark of 896,980 points on the classic arcade cabinet.
Costanza's record has stood since April 23, 1998, when the Seinfeld episode "The Frogger" originally aired. As noted at the time, Costanza was able to achieve the feat through a unique combination of Mountain Dew, mozzarella, and grease. Twin Galaxies did not offer an account of Laffaye's preparatory dietary regimen.

In 2005, Twin Galaxies offered a cash prize to anyone able to best Costanza's score, though no one was able to accomplish the task before the purse expired. Twin Galaxies also noted that Laffaye holds a record in Atari's classic Paperboy arcade game.
