Silver And Black Spider-Man Spin-Off Movie Dropped From Release Calendar
A new release date for Silver & Black has not been announced.
This should come as a surprise to nobody. Though it was originally slated to release on February 8, 2019, the Spider-Man spin-off movie that doesn't feature Spider-Man Silver & Black--about Silver Sable and Black Cat--will not be in theaters anytime soon.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie has been removed from Sony's upcoming release calendar altogether, meaning there's no telling when it'll see the light of day. However, THR notes that the studio is hunting for a new release date.
Though the film about two characters from the Spider-Man universe has The Secret Lives of Bees director Gina Prince-Bythewood attached to helm the project, from a script by Lindsey Beer (Captain Marvel, Tomb Raider) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Chaos Walking), no casting announcements had been made. Beyond that, there was no word on when production would actually begin
However, Prince-Bythewood did confirm in February that it was likely the film would be delayed. "Still working on the script," she tweeted at the time. "All about the script."
Still working on the script. All about the script.

Still, even though Silver & Black has been dropped from the calendar, there's still plenty to be excited about if you're a Spider-Man fan. A followup to Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for theaters on July 5, 2019--after Avengers 4. Beyond that, Sony's first Spider-Man free movie set in the Spider-verse, Venom, is in theaters this October.
