Skyrim, Fallout 4 Updates Out Now In Beta On PC
Here's everything that's been added or changed.
Bethesda today released beta versions for forthcoming updates to Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition on Steam.
The main features of the Fallout 4 version 1.9 update are what we heard about recently: support for a high-resolution texture pack on PC and enhancements for the PS4 Pro version (something that's obviously not present in this PC update). The texture pack arrives next week as a free download that Bethesda describes as a "love letter" to fans on PC. The recommended PC specs for it are demanding, calling for an 8 GB GTX 1080.

The remainder of the update overlaps with what's seen in the new 1.4 update for Skyrim: Special Edition. It expands the ways in which mods can be browsed, with a new Featured category; the ability to sort by things like Highest Rated and Most Favorited on a daily, weekly, monthly, or all-time basis; and a way to see the number of ratings and favorites a mod has received. There are also unspecified performance and stability improvements, among other smaller changes.
Both updates are out now in beta on Steam. There's no word on when they'll be officially released on PC or consoles.
You can check out the full patch notes for both games' updates below. In the case of either game, you'll need to opt in to receive the update while it's in beta. This is done by going to the Properties menu of the game in Steam, clicking on the Betas drop-down menu, and selecting the beta update.
