Sonic 3 Is Bigger Than Any John Wick Movie For Keanu Reeves At The US Box Office

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features beloved actor Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog, and the video game movie is now bigger than any of Reeves' John Wick movies, at least by one metric.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has earned $220 million domestically, and that's more than the domestic tally for any of the John Wick movies so far. The original John Wick earned $43 million in the domestic market, with John Wick 2 pulling in $92 million, John Wick 3 earning $171 million, and John Wick 4 making $187 million. This comparison was first noticed on social media by The Cartoon Base.

Globally, though, John Wick still reigns supreme, as John Wick 4 made $440 million globally during its run in 2023. Sonic 3 is coming up close behind, though, banking $424 million worldwide so far.

The Matrix Reloaded remains Reeves' biggest movie ever in terms of total box office performance; it made $281 million domestically and $460 million internationally for a global total of $741 million.

Across three movies, the Sonic the Hedgehog film series has crossed $1 billion. A fourth movie is coming in March 2027. Not much is known about the story, but it's expected that Ben Schwartz will come back to voice Sonic, at least. Jim Carrey, who played Dr. Robotnik, has said he would be open to returning if the script sounds fun.
