Sony comments on God of War dev layoffs and what they mean for the studio

<< LINK REMOVED >> I'd have to agree with both Def-Trex and Spartan-1657. The first chapter or so is very quick-time heavy, but the game that follows is easily the best experience of the entire series.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Don't listen to Def-Trex. God of War 3 is by far the best in the series. The others were incredible as well, but the third one is just beyond. They didn't ruin anything with QTE's in number 3.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I can understand layoffs here and there. Even a handful at a time. But I've seen far too many instances where parent companies lay off entire teams by multiples of 50. THAT, to me, is always a sad event, and my best to those looking for work. But those sound like managerial mistakes where the developer ends up paying for it. These are lives that are being messed with. How many times have we seen people hire someone for 6 months to get a push on development, only to let them go once the job is done. It's one thing if you know it's contractual going in, another when you might have spent thousands, changed residence, etc. to work on those projects. The parent companies don't seem to realize this.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I know, right? Bad to the frickin ass. Why can't other businesses take a hint and do likewise? Game studios actually employ at lot of social science behind those open floorplans. They promote interaction, creativity and inspiration. Nothing is as deadening to the senses as seeing a run of the mill farm of cubicles.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I remember Jaffe's original intention back when he created the first game was to have Kratos destroy Olympus and then play all the other ancient religions (Norse, Egyptian, Japanese, etc.) off one another over the resulting power vacuum that would be created, thus explaining why religions of old are now mostly nothing more than myths.

Personally I think that'd be awesome.
