Sony eyes China for manufacturing

According to a Reuters report, Sony Computer Entertainment is considering the possibilities of manufacturing its PlayStation 2 hardware in China.

"We are currently undergoing tests in China," a company representative commented. "We don't know yet when or how many units we intend to manufacture. Nor have we decided on the ratio for manufacturing between Japan and China's factories."

The PlayStation 2 hardware is currently manufactured only in Japan, but moving manufacturing responsibilities outside of the country may help the company reduce costs.
