At its Gamer's Day event in San Francisco today, Sony announced a few more details concerning the launch of its PlayStation 2 video game console and the PlayStation 2 broadband network. The PlayStation 2 will not come with a demo disc, nor will it come with any software packed-in. Sony also stated that it is currently in the developmental stages of designing its PlayStation 2 broadband network. Currently, no PlayStation 2 titles are in development to take advantage of this network. Sony officials claim that the infrastructure of the network must first be in place before actual game development for the network may commence. The PlayStation 2's broadband network is still scheduled for launch in the fall of 2001.
