With just days to go before the PlayStation 4 is released in North America, Sony has come out to say meeting analysts' sales estimates of 3 million units by year-end won't be a problem.
"We're very comfortable with it," SCEA CEO Jack Tretton told Bloomberg. "I'm excited about next week to be able to talk about what was sold as opposed to what we may sell."
Tretton added that Sony will have "adequate" supplies of the $399 PS4 through the holiday season. He also confirmed that Sony is sticking by its projection to sell 5 million PS4s by the end of March, 2014.
"This is a marathon, not a sprint, but getting out to a nice start is a good thing," Tretton said. "That hurdle has been cleared. We're very, very confident we're in great shape."
The PS4 will be released in North America on November 15, followed by Europe on November 29. In all, the PS4 will be available in 32 countries around the world in time for the holidays.
