Sony Releases European Launch Details for the PlayStation 2

Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe has announced the details regarding the European launch of its PlayStation 2 console. Thirty-three titles will be available across 17 countries for the console's launch on November 24, and 63 more PS2 titles are set for release by March 2001. There will be 500,000 PlayStation 2 units available at launch in Europe, and Sony plans to have 1 million units available across Europe by the end of the year.

Sony SCEE president Chris Deering stated, "Our software lineup demonstrates just how far studios from Europe, North America, and Japan have been able to push the system in what has been a relatively short development time. During the next few months, consumers will see even more showcase, groundbreaking PlayStation 2 titles, as developers build on their expertise whilst striving to add innovative new features, immersive gameplay elements, and compelling storylines to all future releases."

The PlayStation 2 will launch on November 30 in Australia and New Zealand, and it will be available sometime before Christmas in the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, Iceland, UAE, Poland, South Africa, and some Mediterranean countries.
