Sony will be last to announce with PS4

I don't see why people are so invested in the console wars. In the end you will enjoy what console you pick or all of them if you want to buy all three. I am glad there is competition because why would we want a singe console dictating the price for everything. I like the competitive pricing. But i'm not going to smear another console because I prefer mine. I have a psp, ds and 360 and I'm happy with each of them. If people think their console is better, awesome. But why argue about it online when you could go back to playing.

i am not ready for ps4. my ps3 collection is only 1/4 the size of my ps2 collection!!

@sammyd1234 As soon as the good things that you have to say about the PS3 come out, so does the sarcasm. dismissing the advantages of the PS3 will get you no where. I personally hate neither system. I simply look at the facts, and realize which is better. I try not to hate anything, it simply is, and other things are simply better. Also, how much did you pay for your Blu-ray dvd player and surround sound? you could have saved the money from the dvd player if you just used the ps3. Also, who said i lose? ranting and telling me i lose isn't a conversation, nor an argument. That is nothing more than a ignorant comment but someone that doesn't want to see the other side of the coin.

@sammyd1234 If you would kindly take a look at my previous comment, you will find i have exactly 7 likes and 7 dislikes. therefor, you point is nil. You claim that no one cares about paying, but it would thoroughly upset me if I had just bought a game, and just to play online, had to pay. Also, the XBOX uses more electricity, therefor costing more over time. You say the PS3 has worse features, but what facts do you have to support this? You cannot simply make a statement without any facts to back your point up. Also, i don't believe it's me being cheap, it's simply a matter of practicality and foresight. Think about it. Of course i don't have a PS3 or an XBOX, i live on a boat, as i have for the past 4 years, making it nearly impossible to own any sort of serious gaming console. Honestly, i have never had a problem with having to go and change my playstation network settings, but if i did, im sure i could do it in seconds. The PSN is extremely easy for me to use, and i personally think it's great. as for having more matches, once you get to the millions, does it matter any more? you really will never run out of suitable players.Also, you can look it up online, the PS3 has better hardware, faster hardware, and can run blu-ray. you say blu-ray doesn't matter, but that's the wave of the future.

@pHANTOMpHREAK9P So does that mean that you consider having a processor an innovation? I consider it a requirement. The PS3 has analog controls (started on the n64) with rumble(started on the n64), a d-pad (started on the NES), motion control (started on the wii). All modern game consoles owe the majority of their design to nintendo. As for my being 'butthurt', I doubt that, because I know who the superior innovator is. And since you use words like 'butthurt', something tells me you're not a big fan of innovation either.

@GamerLegend10 @chesed I defy you name a gaming console that didn't have far better graphic capabilities than previous gen. Graphics may not be the most important thing of gaming, but it certainly is the best signifier of a next gen console. That is indisputable.

That is fine with me. Really not ready financially to hop into the next generation anyway.

To be honest Sony should just invest all their money in getting Activision to release an exclusive COD game for launch on the PS4. I know it's stupid, but nobody would argue that it wouldn't sell consoles.

@vodoo u might be right but im one of those who think backcompability and region free are the 2 main things for me to buy a new console we seen enough milking of tons of ps2 titles and ps1 titles being re released on the ps3 ps2 is still selling since there is no other choice - no other place to play that huge library of games so thanks but no thanks - give me back compatibility and as u urself pointed out at launch when a console barely got any games people need games to play and they need their ps3 (ps2,ps1) games then

@metalkitten... The amount of people that will use their PS4 to play ps1 & ps2 games will be so small it wouldn't even be worth it. I can understand playing ps3 games when the system launches, but after it has its' own library of games built up there's no reason to go back a generation anymore. Yes, there's always gonna be those who want to play old games from a previous gen, but the majority will not. If it comes down to adding backward compatibility or adding a new feature... I'd go with the new feature.

Software sells hardware. Sony has made too many I.P this gen to bank on them next gen Imo. Gran Turismo, God of War, Uncharted, Killzone, and maybe Little Big Planet are I.Ps that could sell more than 2 million and be system sellers.

@darksiED70 Well that's just it, the 360 is by far the better console for lighting and shadows, no doubt, but in terms of details Sony's console has the upper hand. I haven't seen either console on anything bigger than a 37" but could understand things going the way you say.

@Dawg9000 @Rovelius @ydnarrewop @hella_epic @warhawk-geeby I may have gone a little overboard with my comment, for that i apologize, this is just from my experience by having both consoles, where i said games are smoother on XBOX, thats kind of true, one example is skyrim, when i said you have to go to the options menu to do everything for the PS3, i meant the dashboard settings, if i want to connect my surround sound system i have to go to the settings and change it manually, but the XBOX does it for you, this is one example, when i said i put both consoles next to each other and connected them to 2 tvs, it's not that i have no life, i just got bored, i find that XBOX does have better games, yes that is my opinion i admit it, GOW, HALO, LEFT 4 DEAD, there some examples. i didn't say the PS is a weak system because thats not true, its an awesome system, ok the blue-ray player is pretty cool so i take that back, it's just not that big of a deal to get excited about, and to @ydnarrewop, your lucky to have some sick tech in your cabinet. to @Dawg9000 dont know why you bought a remote, control works just fine. some of this is my opinion and some is just facts that i have tested, the PS3 is an awesome console, thats why i bought, its region free is the biggest reason why i bought it, i bought MK9 and now the Australian Government can S my D, you guys can figure that part out, you have a right to your opinion and i respect that. i hope this cleared everything out about what i said.

ps3 is selling well - i dont see any reason for them to bring out ps4 anytime soon - focus on getting vita right instead - ure basically doing better with ps3 and psp right now i know many who picked up a ps3 for the first time recently and im personally not interested in getting any new console anytime soon its enough that vita and then wiiu comes - we dont need a new x box and ps3 anytime soon but when u do - make sure it can play ps1,2,and 3 games please and regionfree....

sony wants to be last because it likes to lie about its system so their fans can fall head over heals in love all over again. not this time sony.. i will not buy a ps4 till the slim model is out.. by that time the word of moth you will prove your lies to be true or false. plus i can judge it by the games that are out. you dooped me 3 times your lucky im even thinking of buying any one of your systems!!

@monson21502 Nevermind the PSEYE that already did motion gaming to an extent before both nintendo and microsoft(not counting the useless power glove). The kinect is a eyetoy glued to a wii motion bar btw....just thought i let you know...take it apart sometime.... Also the PS3 is the best working system of the 3.Worldwide its on par with the 360 and expected to surpass by years end.And by best working system i mean , least likely to become a doorstop.

Actually, Sony first announced the PS3 at e3 2005. That was the same e3 that saw Nintendo first announce the Wii. I think something similar may happen at this years e3 with Sony and Microsoft. But I still think we're in for a long wait. I'm guessing that the PS3's successor won't be released until late 2013. And the PS3 will still be lingering around for a couple more years after that.

Just a note... The most recent figures put the PS3 on par with the Xbox 360. And the growth on the PS3 is expected to allow the PS3 to surpass the Xbox 360 by year's end.

@sammyd1234 Normally when I see many people rip a person a new one, I stand by and laugh. But I really had to comment on this one. Out of all the hilarity you were spewing, I had to let you know 2 things. 1. "Don't mention blu-ray, no one cares about that" "Microsoft has sold more consoles than Sony has" I put these 2 lines because people DO care about being able to use their consoles for media nowadays. I bought my PS3 and Blu-Ray came as an added bonus, DVD playback with my PS2. Microsoft wouldn't even let my Xbox play a DVD unless I bought a crappy remote. Now look at how radically different the sales are from last gen and compare em to now. Landslide. 2. Do you install all your Xbox games? It definitely doesn't load faster.

and we all know why...... so they can bring scapped projects to show off incase another system has a gimmick sony thinks will help it sell because it works wth the wii u or next box. just like they did sixaxis controll and move

Neither Microsoft or Nintendo have never taken an idea further with their own iteration have they? I am also pretty sure Playstation has never once tried anything new or innovative... if you excuse me I'm going to go do some protein folding on my cell processor now; cheers bud. It's the design industry welcome to how it works and how the companies within it operate. Look at controller designs, its an ever evolving process.

Of course Sony will be the last to announce. They always wait to see what they can copy and claim as 'innovation'.

I have a digital 7.1 surround system too; with a nice array of Paradigm speakers :) However, I don't agree when you say Blu-Ray doesn't mean anything. I have a 360, PS3, Wii, Stereo Receiver (Yamaha), Satellite receiver, a multidisc dvd/cd player, and even an old school VCR all in my cabinet. Why in the name of God would I want something else crammed in there? Gamers who like blu-ray would go for the PS3 because of the Ray. No not all, but there is a selling point to PS3 because it has Blu-ray.

I'm wondering if Microsoft and Sony are trying for a ten-year lifespan on their existing consoles after all. It's been a bit of a rough generation, the consoles still have plenty of life left in them, and in spite of all the hardware advancement and with the exception of a few titles like Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2, PC games haven't really advanced all that much since 2006 when the consoles launched, so there's little impetus to compete against the PC. I personally am not complaining. I'm fed up with having to buy new consoles every five years. I like my PS3, the Xbox 360 is a perfectly capable console as well. A new console would offer nothing except mildly better graphics and a dent in my bank account.

Sony has never been first to release a console! I hope it's a great system! In the end I play xbox more than the ps3! Competition is necessary to improve! Where would the ps3 be without the 360! The same should be said for the 360! In the end you have to combine the sales of both systems to beat the wii! As much respect I have for Nintendo, The wii never won me over other than a virtual console!

I'd be very surprised if someone announced the PS4 before Sony. If the Nextbox is announced then it'll force their hand... they won't want to be left behind again... they still haven't caught up this generation and if they continue to peddle out of date hardware they'll be lagging behind next generation again. Even Sony aren't arrogant enough to think the PS3 will be able to compete with next gen consoles... even if they were arrogant enough to think they'd walk this generation because the PS2 sold so well.

A Playstation 4 at this point doesn't really seem necessary. The PS3's hardware capability is still much greater than its competition (in terms of HD and power). What they need to do is spit out more great exclusive titles like MGS4, Uncharted, and other great Sony IPs in the mean time. With that said, this isn't a bad move at all. Why throw out a new system when your current one is no where near obsolete?

Sony can wait as long as they want in my books. I'm still putting in way too many hours on my PS3. I still have way too many hours to put in.

PS3 has a lot of road to go, why bother with the 4th now? It's just careless...

@warhawk : we tried this side by side thing just for fun playing FFXIII, the xbox version looked like a ps1 game on a 60-inch tv compared to the ps3 version which was clearly hd. if you play on 13-inch sets, then you won't see much difference.

Whatever you do sony, sell it dirt cheap. Which will equal huge install base which will equal huge software sales because thats where the money is anyway.

Yeah wait all you like Sony! :D From the games already planned for release this year I'm more than happy to wait a while. In my opinion the console still hasn't reached it's prime. I completed Uncharted 3 last night and thought hands-down it was easily one of the best games I've played. And with the titles set for release this year there's no way I'd want to rush into the next gen. @Tripwolf Sorry but the PC wouldn't give me Uncharted, Motorstorm, Infamous, Starhawk, Twisted Metal, God of War or just about every other decent game out there in the world.. It would however give me good RTS games, that's one thing I'm highly jealous of. Each to their own though.
