Spider-Man: Homecoming's Music Coming From Star Wars, Call of Duty Composer

Michael Giacchino is writing the music for Sony's upcoming action movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, he revealed on Twitter today following reports.

The confirmation comes after Reddit user JonLuca reported that they attended a screening of Doctor Strange with Marvel boss Kevin Feige, who apparently revealed during a Q&A that Giacchino would score Homecoming. According to the Reddit user, Fiege said, "We announced that right? I really hope we announced that." It looks like Marvel hadn't, but not it seems to be confirmed.

Homecoming is just the latest high-profile project for Giacchino, as he also did the music for the recently released Doctor Strange, as well as Zootopia, Inside Out, Jurassic World, and Star Trek Beyond. He won an Oscar for Disney's Up (via Entertainment Weekly).

In September, it was revealed that Giacchino replaced Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel) for Star Wars Rogue One's music due to the film's much-discussed reshoots.

He might be better known in Hollywood, but Giacchino also wrote the music for the first Call of Duty game.

Homecoming will be the first standalone Spidey movie from Marvel Studios, following a co-production deal with Sony Pictures. Tom Holland plays Spider-Man. The movie also stars Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori, and Tyne Daly. It's directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car) and hits theaters on July 7, 2017.

In Spider-Man gaming news, Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac is making a Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4, though it remains to be seen if it will be released alongside the movie next year.
