Spider-Man: No Way Home is now Sony's highest-grossing film in its history and is poised to make a huge profit.

The movie has made $1.217 billion globally at the box office, which surpasses the previous record-holder, Spider-Man: Far From Home ($1.131 billion). Sony's James Bond movie Skyfall ($1.108 billion) is the film studio's third movie to pass $1 billion at the global box office.

Not only is No Way Home doing big numbers in theaters during the pandemic, it's also generating massive profits, it seems. Deadline reports that No Way Home is expected to make $242 million in net profit after expenses right now in early numbers. But Deadline also reported that if movie theaters remain open despite surging COVID cases, the final profit could be about $610 million.

Marvel paid 25% of No Way Home's production budget, or $50 million, and the Disney company will make 25% of the final profit, which could be more than $150 million.

For comparison, Spider-Man: Homecoming made a profit of $200 million, while Far From Home had a profit of $339 million, according to Deadline. If No Way Home exceeds $600 million in profit, it would be a bigger profit than Avengers: Infinity War ($500 million) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($417.5 million), Deadline reported.

I wonder if this will help to solidify a Sony + Disney + MCU partnerships or ..... will it be a bigger divide/ reason for the corporations to pull away from each other in order to reap all of the profit for themselves.

Will it cause them to play nicely or continue their worst natural instincts... hmmm? I do not actually need an answer.

Avoiding the whole Marvel geekdom for a second, this film really made me appreciate Tom Holland as an actor. In the more touching, sentimental scenes, he really was superb.

I now can't wait for flashpoint, which will totally make Keaton's batman justice and won't ruin him in any way shape or form.

Eh. Not a fan of how they teased the sinister six and then totally dropped that after the first movie to segue into this multiverse cop out version.

@oddshroom: if you are talking about the Scorpion tease at the end of the first movie, they will still likely use him

I mean was it that hard? Sony doesn't ship out that many super high-profit movies. Unless it's a Teenager/man in blue and red spandex.

In hindsight, Sony executives thinking they should have had their Spiderman in the MCU a long time ago. It's a no brainer to do the same for Venom.

@idakooz: Yeah, because the MCU knows how to handle their IPs.

They don't make their characters overly serious. And realize in the end, "Maybe we should make each character have different tones. Just like in the comics." (Looks at WB).

And they don't ignore the source material because they believe it's too wacky and stupid for Hollywood (as if Hollywood has standards). And then in the end continue to do so even though it doesn't work well for most of their movies (looks at FOX).

And they realize don't pick directors who know nothing of comic books to write comic book movies (Looks at universal).

Lastly, they realize from Disney that the story should follow the actual source material. Since that's what people come for. People want a movie based on a comic book, not themed after a comic book (Note: The difference between the two. Is similar to the difference between a woman from Mexico, and a woman dressed like a Mexican. One's more authentic and interesting, the other is a nice look and nothing else.

@idakooz: Marvel was the one roadblocking Venom, it was Sony's want for Venom to be part of the MCU that nearly killed this movie from happening.
