Square acquires Quest's software development division

Quest, known for its work on Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle 64, will hand over its software development division to Square.

Comments

On Wednesday, Quest announced that it will hand over its software development division to Square. The company has developed and released the simulation strategy games in the Legend of Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre series in the past, and it more recently developed Ogre Battle 64 for the Nintendo 64 and Tactics Ogre Gaiden for the Game Boy Advance (both published by Nintendo).

Square's acquisition of the software development division should fit in perfectly with the recent announcement that it is developing several GBA titles, one of which is the handheld version of Final Fantasy Tactics. The creator of the Ogre Battle series, Yasumi Matsuno, had previously commented that Square has obtained the rights to release any Ogre Battle titles in the future.
