SE is letting Eidos do their own thing in developing games, but while providing them with the funds they need to make them; better too.

It's funny with news like this that people look back it time to what these companies did and pay no attention to the current market. The market today is more multiformat than it was when Deus Ex 2 was released, so I think we should have a pretty good idea what Deus Ex 3 would be like today! I find it very difficult to believe it will be the Roleplaying game of Deus Ex 1 and much more likely to end up like Mass Effect or Alpha Protocol - much mor action orientated and dumbed down in comparison.

There's nothing about a merge in this page why do people keep saying this is a merge. Anyway, If they give the assassin (forgot his no.) from Hitman, anime/FF hair, well let's just say the world will EXPLODE !!

Careful, you might get a turn-based Thief or Deus-Ex, or maybe real-time but like FF XII. Anyway, I'm curious as what might turn out, it may be good or bad but I like surprises!

@ spOOoOOn you made me laugh so hard :) Deus Ex 1 was a masterpiece of storytelling, variation and interactivity, Deus Ex 2 was a simplistic FPS that lacked all the first game's pros, so now they'll try again, with the kindergarden-on-LSD storytelling and linearity of FF. Will the real Deus Ex please stand up?!

Maaaaybe this is what SE is going to have their VersusXIII team work on once finished... since that's the time both that and when this says the Eidos team would be available. On paper, try to think of what Kindom Hearts (minus the Disney) mixed with Deus Ex (oringinal) could end up like. Sounds good to me. The whole point of SE buying Edios was to hybrid-ize some of what have been 'til now almost 100% Japanese market or half their games. They're not low on cash, so I say they should experiment all they want.

I'm so looking forward to Deus Ex and Thief. Especially Thief!

@Bortson Yes, perhaps I used the wrong term. I have mistaken "crappy death animations" for glitchy. As much as people seem to like DX1, I must continue to criticize it for it's derivative artform (think the matrix) and sluggish gunplay.

It could be good...but be cautious gamers!

the 1st deus ex is one of my top 5, a great playing, good looking, long playing, plot turning and challenging sp. i hope they can update deus ex 3 and keep it interesting. best of luck to them.

I wish they'll make good games for every year like before. The progress has been slowed down since Square merged with Enix. :(

I just hope that Deus Ex 3 is more like the original, and less like the second outing, and that they manage to get the physics right this time. No more unified ammo, and much larger (and complex) level design is needed. And I really can't imagine where they'll go next with the Thief series, but they at least need to go back to creating one large level for each mission, retain first person view, and bring back the damned rope arrows. :/

I don't think that when a company buys another company and tells them to do something is collaborating. Also Square bought Eidos specifically for this very reason to have an influence of Japanese and Western game. Its not like Montreal has a choice in this "collaborating", and the last thing I want is Square fiddling with Deus Ex 3. Imagine JC Denton will have zippers, so many zippers, 400 zippers, spikey hair slicked back, and crazy sunglasses.

Sounds to me like Thief is planning on stealing the show! ;)
