Square Enix: PC version of Final Fantasy XV "undecided"
Chief technology officer Yoshihisa Hashimoto says that FFXV will need a high-powered PC to run; PS Vita cross-play options and smartphone/tablet apps up for consideration.
The latest issue of Famitsu (via Final Fantasy Network) says that publisher Square Enix is still undecided on whether to release a PC version of Final Fantasy XV.
According to Square Enix's chief technology officer Yoshihisa Hashimoto, if a PC version were to be released, it would require an expensive machine to run. Hashimoto said that the company was waiting to gauge audience demand before making a decision on a PC version.
Hashimoto added that FFXV is being developed in a PC environment and that platforms that support DirectX 11 will be likely candidates for the game, hence the next-generation leap to the PS4 and Xbox One.
Square Enix is also considering using the PlayStation Vita for cross-platform functions for FFXV. Smartphones and tablets are also on the table for various FFXV-related features and apps.
Final Fantasy XV was announced at Sony's E3 press conference last week. The game was originally called Final Fantasy Versus XIII. For more information, check out GameSpot's coverage on the title.
