Square Enix seeking Deus Ex: Human Defiance trademark
[UPDATE] Trademark application covers games and feature films, among other things; domain name registration indicates trademark is for feature film.
[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Superannuation dug up domain name registrations that indicate Deus Ex: Human Defiance is the title of the upcoming Deus Ex movie from CBS Films, a division of GameSpot parent company CBS.
The original story follows below
Square Enix has filed a trademark application for Deus Ex: Human Defiance, suggesting the publisher is working on a new entry in the franchise.
It is not clear if the trademark relates to a new game or something else entirely, as the legal document covers both games and feature films, among other things.
Square Enix has not announced a follow-up to 2011's Deus Ex: Human Revolution, though the company is working with CBS Films on a Deus Ex motion picture.
Helmed by The Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson, the film was announced in July and currently has no title. CBS Films is collaborating with Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal on the project.
