Zero will release for Wii U in North America on April 22, 2016, Nintendo revealed during today's Nintendo Direct event. Previously, the game had been slated to launch sometime this month, only for it to be delayed in September. At the time, Nintendo said it would instead be coming during the first quarter of 2016, which covers January through March.
In a message to fans, producer Shigeru Miyamoto apologized for the delay. He explained that while the game could be released this year, Nintendo wanted "to polish the game a bit more so that players will be able to more smoothly grasp the new style of play that we are proposing."
We later heard from Platinum Games, the co-developer of Zero, that the delay was in order to ensure the game had more of that "Platinum feel."
