Star Wars 7 Hits $300M in the US in Five Days, Faster Than Jurassic World - Report

Not only did Star Wars: The Force Awakens enjoy the strongest opening ever, but the film continues to perform at a record-breaking pace days after its premiere, it seems. Deadline reports today that the movie crossed $300 million at the US box office on Tuesday, citing early industry estimates.

This is not yet confirmed by Disney. But if true, that would be another record for the sci-fi blockbuster. Jurassic World, the previous record-holder, needed eight days cross the $300 million domestic box office threshold. The Force Awakens will have done it in just five days.

Deadline also reports, citing analysts, that The Force Awakens made a projected $37.88 million on Tuesday. The previous record-holder for a Tuesday was The Amazing Spider-Man, which hauled in $35 million on July 3, 2012, according to the site. This would be second time The Force Awakens toppled a Spider-Man movie, as Disney's movie beat Spider-Man 2 to take the top spot for Monday performance.
