Star Wars 7 Poe Dameron Comic Coming to Marvel in April
Charles Soule and Phil Noto bring Poe Dameron to Marvel.
Poe Dameron, the expert Resistance pilot from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will make his way to his own comic book series this April. Revealed by USA Today, writer Charles Soule and artist Phil Noto will take this character on new adventures.
The book will focus on the lead-up to The Force Awakens and will have Poe seeking out Lor San Tekka on Jakku to find a piece of the map that will lead the Resistance to Luke Skywalker. Fans will learn more about Poe as an X-wing pilot for General Leia Organa, as a new threat from the First Order rises, which will become Poe's nemesis.
"Sometimes it can feel like the Star Wars universe is so well trodden and so many stories have already been told," Soule explains. "But the way the Episode VII galaxy is set up, there are opportunities for new archetypes almost, and the bad guy we're working with is going to feel fresh and cool."
Soule and Noto will get more into Poe's personality as well as explore some familiar places and characters in the Star Wars universe, while introducing new elements as well. Both Soule and Noto are no strangers to Star Wars comics as Soule wrote Star Wars: Lando and Noto recently wrapped up the Chewbacca mini-series.
Fans of the film got to see a tiny bit of Poe's backstory in the Marvel mini-series Shattered Empires, which followed the exploits of Poe's parents, immediately after the events of Return of the Jedi.
STAR WARS: POE DAMERON will hit comic book stores in April.
