Star Wars Battlefront's Future Free and Paid DLC Outlined, Next Heroes/Villains Revealed
June's Bespin expansion comes with more maps, a new mode, and the characters Lando and Dengar.
The future of Star Wars Battlefront is coming into focus. Developer DICE today shared new details on the free and paid content coming to the sci-fi shooter in the months ahead.
In terms of free content, players can expect new in-game events such as double XP weekends and community missions, as well as new Hutt Contracts to help players earn more Star Cards.
Perhaps more interesting is that DICE also teased that it has a "couple of surprises" in store that will involve giving players more options to play the game offline. Unfortunately, no further details were shared. Additionally, DICE has some "cool activities" planned for May 4, which is Star Wars Day.
As for paid content, Battlefront's second expansion, Bespin, is coming in June. As its name suggests, this add-on takes players to Cloud City and adds four new maps.
"You'll see AT-ATs in Cloud City, take to the skies in Fighter Squadron, and even spend time in a carbonite chamber," DICE said.
Bespin will also add new weapons and Star Cards, a new game mode, and the characters Lando Calrissian (Hero) and Dengar (Villain). There will be eight total hero characters added to Battlefront through DLC.
Greedo and Niem Nunb were added in the game's first expansion, Outer Rim, while Lando and Dengar are coming with Bespin. Two more will come with the Death Star add-on and the final two with Battlefront's fourth and final expansion, which doesn't have a name yet.
Battlefront launched with the following Hero/Villain characters: Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Emperor Palpatine, Han Solo, and Boba Fett. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more Battlefront news.
