Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer Is Out Now On PS4 And Switch
After a brief delay, you can strap yourself to twin boosters and zoom through deadly canyons on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Update: Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer is out now on Switch and PS4. Publisher Aspyr has released a launch trailer, which you can watch below; it showcases the look of the game on modern consoles and various features, including the new motion controls. It's available digitally on both platforms for $15 in the US.
Original Story: After stumbling a few times off the starting block, Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer is finally preparing to launch. Aspyr Media, which is publishing the remake of the classic racer, announced that it's coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch on June 23.
The note from the company thanked fans for their continued support while work on the port continued, seeming to allude to the long wait since it was announced. Originally slated for May 12, it was first pushed back to May 26 and then delayed indefinitely. Upon the second delay, Aspyr explained that it was due to complications that have come up since the studio began working from home because of coronavirus.
Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer launched alongside The Phantom Menace as a tie-in to one of its most memorable scenes, the podrace on the planet Tatooine. It was released on PC and N64, and was followed by a sequel called Racer Revenge on PS2.
In other upcoming Star Wars game news, EA recently announced Star Wars: Squadrons. The dogfighting game debuted with a cinematic trailer, but we should be seeing the first gameplay footage at EA Play on June 18.
