Star Wars Solo Director Comments On Its Commercial Failure

If they ever do another starwars do a Revan Saga hell steal content from SWTOR those writers do better than the movie did get people who know their Starwars history and someone who's job is it to say hey that makes no sense you need to re-write that that is a flamming sack of HOT GABAGE !!!! Sam Reimi could write a better female role than half the Marvel and Starwars writers on the toliet with the shits eating a chimichunga on a tuesday during a vegan fest.

Solo is really good.

But Disney planning sooooo many Star Wars movies (spin offs, new trilogies, spin offs for every **** character) has me really worried.

Rian Johnson is still getting his trilogy of films, Meh. Looks like i wont be watching those.

The article mentions IX, i do hope they understand that calling your fan base sexist and racist simply because a small group of people gave an actress a hard time is going to have very serious consiquences. If they thought Solo was a failure, IX is going to make the Justice League look like one of the most successful movies ever made.... trust me Episode IX is going to flop hard.

I'll see it later on, but I didn't feel the need to see a Solo origin movie in the theatre.

Literally not Howard's fault. The movie was actually great for what it was. The fault lies mainly with Disney, for shitty marketing and the general bad taste still left in everyone's mouths from Episode 8.

Solo was actually a good movie. I went in expecting it to be crap. It wasn't.

But Star Wars fatigue is obviously a real thing and Disney isn't helping by announcing, "oh, let's do a Lando film. A Boba film. A C3PO film (okay that one I made up but I wouldn't put it past them at this point)."

Disney has failed the most important aspects of story telling: good plot, good script and character development. People have to like the characters, especially the hero. Actors can only do so much. I don't blame the actors at all. All we get now is special effects. Disney has failed the two most important business practices on how to make money. Give customers what they want and make a customer feel like you care about them. Their attitude towards fans who dont like their movies has been an appalling PR exercise. Really disgraceful. Calling them every name under the sun. This company deserves to be punished by poor sales.

Quality over quantity, respect to fans and the lore over shock and awe PR and agenda, Disney needs to keep this in mind if they want to keep Star Wars alive.

These movies are trash...they reek of Disney feminism and simply put are as unoriginal as can be. Could the meeting with Snoke be any more derivative minus having an actual cool looking/sounding sith lord versus this weird reptile thing? Don't even get me started on the emo dude that plays off as some kind of "true sith" LOL....let's be honest the design of Darth Maul blows away anything this series has currently in it.

The prequels, despite their many faults, were enjoyable to (re-)watch. They had at least some interesting characters and battles in them, expanded the lore in a meaningful way and the story differed enough from the original trilogy that it could stand on its own.

I really can't say the same for every Star Wars movie that Disney released so far. I can almost say for a fact that ALL OF THEM suffer from having uninteresting or annoying (main) characters. The Last Jedi was terrible, but it followed the already-weak premise and foundation set in The Force Awakens.

It's really that simple. I don't want to see a Star Wars movie without the involvement of George Lucas and I stand by that fact. Star Wars was created by George Lucas, it is HIS STORY, HIS MOVIES. I only listen to Lucas's vision for Star Wars and that was COMPLETE in 2005 with Revenge of the Sith.

It's official. Star Wars is dead to me.

Everyone I know has stopped going to the theater to see Star Wars movies, and some of them are big Star Wars fans. None of them feel it's worth the effort anymore. They're just too blah.

I love seeing salty, whiny fanboys.

you can blame disney for the travesty that was ep viii. you cannot expect the fanbase to easily bounce back from that trash and willingly spend its hard earned money on a solo movie that not only looked average, but was tarnished even before it released due to all the production troubles it went through. i haven't even mentioned the level of fatigue people are feeling with star wars at the present time which is another factor as to why solo bombed. if disney was foolish enough to think it could churn out a new sw movie every single year and expect them to smash box office records each and every time, it thought wrong. you cannot alienate your audience and be forgiven so easily. hopefully a lesson was learned here but that would be giving disney too much credit.

I can tell you the entire problem in 1 word. Annual. Just like Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty. They release annually. We all know a new one is coming every year. That wow factor is gone. No one gets nearly as excited as say, a new Grand Theft Auto. GTAV has been out for nearly 5 years and still raking in loads of cash. And can you imagine the reception and the hype GTAVI will bring? After so many years?! That is how Star Wars should be. Spread them out, don't spread them thin. There's no sense in destroying and rushing an incredible universe full of stories into theaters. Treat them with some respect. Take your time.

Other than the last jedi (which killed my star wars love & nostalgia), the spin off brings nothing really new. Solo and rouge one (its a good movie btw) didnt really bring much cause in the end whatever these spin off does, we already know what will happen in episode 4.

Sad about that, the movie is genuinelly good. Unfortunatelly the Star Wars fans are not so loyal to the franchise, I came to notice.

At this point, I can't help but wonder whether they'd have been better served just letting Lord and Miller finish their version and releasing it as it was. Apparently the movie would still have been profitable if not for the cost of the reshoots.
