Star Wars: Watch Daisy Ridley Avoid Answering Questions About The Last Jedi
"Who are the last Jedi?"
Like everyone else, actor Josh Gad wants to know what Star Wars: The Last Jedi's title means. Unlike everyone else, he is a famous person who is friends with someone who might know, Rey actress Daisy Ridley.
In a video posted to Instagram, Gad tried to get some answers from The Last Jedi star. He invited his Murder on the Orient Express co-star to his trailer under what he said were false pretenses and proceeded to grill her about The Last Jedi.
"Who are the last Jedi?" he asks her. Shaking her head and smiling, Ridley replies, "We're not doing this, Josh." Gad continues, "Is it like one? Or is it more than one?" He says he needs that information to help him film a scene for Murder on the Orient Express.
Gad goes on to bargain with Ridley, offering up the (obvious) reveal that his Frozen character, Olaf, is going to be in Frozen 2. Ridley still doesn't budge, though she agreed with Gad's suggestion that The Last Jedi is an ominous-sounding title.
"We can't have this conversation," Ridley says to Gad before the video cuts off.
The Last Jedi is an intriguing and mysterious title. It might be a reference to Luke Skywalker, who was referred to as the last Jedi in The Force Awakens' opening crawl. Jedi can also be plural. Check out GameSpot's breakdown here to find out what we think The Last Jedi could mean.
Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, responded to Episode VIII finally getting a name, saying he likes how minimalist The Last Jedi is. He also said he likes how the title has a "samurai" feel to it.
Following a delay, The Last Jedi arrives in theaters on December 15, 2017. It also stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. Carrie Fisher filmed her Leia scenes for the movie before she passed away in December.
