Star Wars Will Get Openly Gay Character, JJ Abrams Says

That's it. I was closet heterosexual and now I get the courage to say that I am an openly straight male.

It's 2016 - Gay, Straight .. it really doesn't matter ... If the character is strong their Gender/Race/Sexuality are not important !! Same goes for everything else .. Mostly we are all Gamers here .. Doesn't matter what our Gender is or our Race or even our sexuality .. And certainly not what platform we choose to Game on !! We are Gamers who love to Game ... and that ... is all that matters !!

There are ways to make homosexuality more accepted in general public. This is the opposite.

If a dedicated homosexual character has an important role to play in a story, and is not made to look ridiculous, it is perfectly fine to put one in. But if they are including a homosexual character in a story "just because", then that is not okay. That's called pandering. Please keep politics out of our stories and put in homosexual characters for the right reasons.

What's the point? Star Wars is so sexless the genders of characters don't make a difference to anything.

I don't get it. Are straight people 'openly straight'? Or do we have to go out of our way to declare it? How about we just don't mention our sexuality unless it directly relates to the story?

Of course the comments are filled with the "you don't support an agenda that I support so you are automatically a homophobe, bigot, KKK member etc." types of people. It doesn't matter whether you support gays, feminists, BLM, whatever... The point is, is that it is a PC agenda, plain and simple, just like all of the others, and no one should support it.

This doesn't bother me, either way. I'm a big proponent for gay rights. My problem is that The Force Awakens was horrible derivative and was almost a carbon copy of the original film in its plot and pacing. I'm hoping the sequels will fix that.

TFA was a good movie but nothing special, so it was actually rather disappointing considering the hype it was getting as "good if not better than the originals". It felt like JJ Abrams' Star Trek except replaced in the Star Wars universe. It also felt more like a film for the mainstream masses rather than a Star Wars film. Since theres going to be gay characters now, I bet in Episode 9 they will reveal Snoke to be female to appeal to feminists, Luke and Rey will get help from a secret Asian ninja jedi clan to appeal to asians, dog and cat resembling lifeforms to appeal to PETA. Mainstream much?
