Stardew Valley Dev Working On New Projects, But Don't Get Too Excited Yet
Developer ConcernedApe wants to "avoid too much hype or speculation."
Following the widespread success of Stardew Valley, which recently sold more than 10 million units worldwide, developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has confirmed that he's working on a couple more projects. However, while both will have some connection to the critically acclaimed farming simulator, don't get too excited just yet--Barone has nothing set in stone and isn't aiming to create "the next indie smash hit."
When asked whether he has plans of developing another game in the Stardew Valley universe, Barone said he's currently drafting two projects that are tied to the farming simulator but won't be direct sequels.
"Yes, I'm actually working on a couple of new projects," Barone replied on Twitter. "One takes place in the world of Stardew Valley, but is not a farming game. The other, I'm not 100% sure about the world yet, but it will tie into Stardew Valley in some way."
The news quickly gained attention, prompting Barone to send out another tweet tempering expectations.
I see this is blowing up and there are articles coming out, etc.... all I ask is please don't get too hyped at this stage. I want to avoid too much hype or speculation. I'd like to just make whatever game comes naturally to me without too much pressure or expectation.

Barone concluded his response by saying he's not out to make "the next indie smash hit." Instead, he just wants to focus on projects that allow him to be creative, giving him the room to share his art and ideas with the world.
"I'm not setting out to make the next indie smash hit, I just want to make another game that I enjoy and am happy with," Barone tweeted. "And to share some of my art & ideas with the world. If it becomes popular, I will be happy, but it's not my focus."
So, while the Stardew Valley developer may be working on two projects in what is effectively the Stardew Valley Universe, don't expect either game to play exactly like the farming simulator. In fact, don't expect anything from these in-development projects at this stage.
