Starhawk private beta starts next month
Lightbox looking for veteran Warhawk players to put new sci-fi shooter through its paces prerelease; trial run set to go public in early 2012.
First word of a Starhawk beta hit last week with the reveal that retail copies of Uncharted 3 will include a voucher for access to the game's public beta, slated for early 2012. For those who don't want to wait, a more limited beta is set to begin next month.

President of Lightbox Interactive Dylan Jobe announced today on the PlayStation blog that a private beta will begin in November. Selected players will be admitted in waves, with eligibility determined by rank/level in Warhawk, involvement in the Warhawk community, and "a few other magical parameters." Beta invites will start going out soon.
Taking a sci-fi Western approach, Starhawk is a successor to 2007's PSN downloadable third-person shooter Warhawk. Unlike its predecessor, Lightbox Interactive's Starhawk will include a single-player campaign in addition to its multiplayer component. A new mechanic to the series will allow on-the-fly building of structures on the battlefield, and the jetlike hawks return to join a host of other vehicles, including mechs and jeeps.
