Steam for Linux now available
Valve releases free client download for new operating system; more than 50 titles on sale for one week to mark occasion.
After a multi-month beta-testing period, Valve today released the official Steam for Linux client. The client is now available to download for free through the Ubunto Software Center. 
To mark the occasion, Valve has discounted more than 50 Linux titles by as much as 75 percent for one week until February 21. Featured titles include World of Goo ($2.50), Counter-Strike: Source ($5), and FTL: Faster Than Light ($5).
In addition, those who purchase and play Team Fortress 2 on Linux by March 1 will receive a free in-game item: a penguin named "Tux," which can be traded between players.
Steam for Linux also includes support for Big Picture mode, which allows users to browse, purchase, and play Steam titles through their TVs. More information about Steam for Linux is available at Valve's special community page.
